Tom Abbott is a Singapore based sales specialist who has written 2 books on sales – The SOHO Solution: 21 Selling Strategies for Growing Your Small Business and Social Selling: 10 Essential Strategies to Prospect, Position and Present Using Social Media.

He recently launched the podcast ‘Selling in Asia‘ where he shares his sales expertise and interviews sales leaders from industry leading companies on what it takes run high performing sales teams.

Besides running the sales training company SOCO Sales Training, Tom is often invited to be the keynote speaker at sales kickoffs, events and retreats around the world.

Committed to being a lifelong learner, when he’s not doing what it takes run a successful company he’s consuming sales related podcasts, books and videos to keep up with the ever changing world of selling. He does what it takes to be a sale expert.

Tom has worked in sales for over 25 years. His sales journey began in Montreal, Canada where he worked as a sales representative.
 
At the start of his career, he got by on people skills and by many would be considered to be a very good sales professional. But Tom wanted more, he wanted to be the best at his company. To achieve this he had to learn from the best in his company, industry and sales.
 
Through constant learning and perseverance he was able to achieve his goal to become the top sales professional at his company. 
 
But this wasn’t enough, Tom realised there were many sales professionals around the world lacking the teachable skills needed to maximise lead conversion and deal size.
 
He set out with goal that no salesperson should lose a sale because they can’t sell. 
 
Now, over 20 years later, Tom heads our industry leading company to help as people around the world get the skills and attitude needed to achieve their goals.

Soco Sales Training Pte Ltd

Tom Abbott is the co-founder and CEO of Soco Sales Training Pte based in Singapore. The company was originally started in Vancouver, Canada in 1999. In the early days the company was called Busy Bodies Coaching focusing on business coaching and evolved over the years to SOHO Sales Coaching which focused on sales coaching and sales training.

In 2010 Soho Sales Coaching was formally registered in Singapore and later changed it’s name to SOCO Sales Training as the company focused on helping SMEs and MNCs across Asia fine tune their sales processes and to train their teams in modern sales methodologies.

AMC NPO Solutions Ltd

Tom Abbott also owns and runs AMC NPO Solutions Ltd in Canada which was started in 1987 by his late father Thomas Abbott Senior. AMC NPO Solutions was originally known as Association Management Consultants and was changed to AMC NPO Solutions when Tom and his wife Elaine took over in 2013.

AMC NPO Solutions specializes in providing governance training, by-law reviews and strategic planning services to not-for-profit organizations across Canada. Since 1987, AMC has assisted over 450 local, provincial, national and international organizations in the areas of strategic planning and board governance training, meeting facilitation and organizational effectiveness reviews.

Early Life

Tom Abbott is Canadian and was born on 20 August 1971 in Ottawa, Canada to his parents Thomas Abbott and Joan Abbott (born Joan Warner). His father is of English and Scottish heritage but born and raised in Canada while his mother was born and raised in Trinidad and moved to Canada during her university years.

While spending many of his early years in Ottawa before moving to Vancouver, Canada as a young kid, Tom attended French immersion and speaks fluent French.

Tom worked in his father’s company Association Management Consultants from a young age where he gained his passion for entrepreneurship and helping people. He also learned the ins and outs of his father’s governance model for the nonprofits: The Complementary Model of Board Governance.

Personal Life

Tom Abbott is married to his wife Elaine Brindamour who is also a partner in both of his companies SOCO Sales Training and AMC NPO Solutions. Tom has 2 sons and has called Singapore home since December 2009.

While Singapore is his home base, Tom spends many months every year in Canada and also owns property in Malaysia. For work and leisure Tom enjoys travelling the world to watch different tennis tournaments.
